Professor Ackerman and NU Fine Arts students unveil sculptural installation at Ice Follies 2025
GeneralFine Arts/Performing ArtsNipissing University third-year Fine Arts students, Ross Kozuskanich and Ellie Laberge recently collaborated with artist and Nipissing Associate Professor of Fine and Visual Arts, Andrew Ackerman, on a sculptural installation featured in the 2025 Ice Follies exhibition. Their piece, Fire and Flood, examined humanity’s fragile relationship with nature, exploring themes of climate change and resilience. The installation resonated with the festival's theme, Ozhaashikwaa (The Ice is Slippery), capturing the instability and vulnerability of the natural world amid unprecedented climatic change.
Distinguished Nipissing alumnus Anna Pearson is shaping the minds of the “adults of tomorrow”
On Anna Pearson’s first ever report card, her teacher wrote that one day, she would make an excellent teacher. That early insight has proven true. Today, Anna is a celebrated educator and the recipient of numerous teaching awards including the Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2024) from Nipissing University, the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2022) for her outstanding contributions to K-12 education, and most recently the Award for Future-Proofing Students from the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (2025).
