Volunteering is one of the best ways to give back to your community, to develop your skills and create networks with new people. During your time as a university student, finding time to volunteer alongside your academic priorities can enhance your resume and help you put into practice the learning you are doing in the classroom.
More importantly, we recommend you source your own volunteer opportunities with organizations you have an interest in being a part of. If you think you would like to work with children one day, approach an organization that provides programming or services for children. Be creative!
As your time is important too, you have a say in what your commitment can be – if it is a short term project you would like to support, or an event you could run, or a longer term initiative, you are in the driver’s seat. Get involved!
Remember to update your Record of Student Development with your volunteering experience!
