Welcome to your NU home! Once you have checked in to your assigned complex a member of the Residence Life team will escort you to your new room and give you important information to start your year off well. Remember to label your boxes with your name and suite number!

Stand strong with your floor and compete with the rest of your complex for the title of res wars champions. Present banners, chant your cheers and charge headfirst into a variety of fun competitions. Students living in the TRC will be invited to participate in another complex.

Join us in the Health Unit's newly renovated and beautifully equipped teaching kitchen for a hands-on cooking class where we'll talk about meal planning on a budget and create a delicious meal together led by guest cook & Nipissing University student Emily Lewis. Opening Ceremonies is the official start to Frosh Week, so welcome! At Opening Ceremonies you’ll receive your Frosh Kit, get your team t-shirt, meet your leaders and team, and hear some great community leaders speak!

This will be time for students to get to know their leaders and teammates through various games and activities run by each team.

Meet Your Profs provides incoming students with an opportunity to ask questions about their program, university life, academic course work, school and personal life balance, and anything related to the university and course work.

Kick back and enjoy some ice cream sundaes in your complex assembly room. Learn about your building’s General Council and all of the involvement opportunities available to you in your own home. *Bring your own bowl*

This is a performance filled with dynamic true monologues and energetic skits. Speak About It is an hour-long performance that addresses consent, sexual assault, and bystander intervention. Following the performance, participants will engage in debrief and discussion with student leaders.

Frosh teams compete in a race around North Bay to complete specific tasks at each location. Points are at risk.

Get acquainted with North Bay by jumping aboard city transit bus for a guided tour of the City of North Bay. Great way to test your new bus pass and learn how to use the MyRideNBT website and Google Maps to plan your route.

For Mature/Transfer students

Mature & Transfer Students, this event is for you! Come out to Chancellor’s House Assembly room to connect with other transfer students over 2000’s Themed Trivia & Appetizers. Trivia will be hosted by DJMiller Entertainment, who does regular trivia nights at Cecil’s on Sundays!

Live Well Lakers Festival is an interactive event with music, games, a photo-booth, and prizes! Connect with resources to enhance your well-being and have fun.

Experienced guide, Lori Beckerton will lead participants on an educational hike through the campus trails teaching about the various edible, medicinal, and poisonous plants that call our campus home! The hike will be 2 hours at a very leisurely pace stopping to learn about plants along the way. Students are encouraged to dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear for rough (and possibly muddy!) terrain. Consider bringing along a water bottle and snack (allergen free please!), bug spray, and sunscreen. Meet at the picnic tables by the pond for just before 2 pm. Speed friending: it's like speed dating, but platonic! Speed Friending offers a number of activities to introduce students to each other. The goal of this event is to assist new students in befriending others of whom they have similar interests. By creating a collaborative and creative environment, students will be able to show their skills and interests in a group setting.

Head to the main campus’ cafeteria for laughs, prizes, a chance to debunk some sex myths and learn about healthy sex and relationships.  This event is brought to you by Residence Life and NUSU and is run in partnership with the Consent Crew!

Hear from someone who lives with Cystic Fibrosis, and how your participation in Shine Day can make a world of difference!

Come out and help us raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis Canada at 12 locations around North Bay and surrounding areas. Bragging rights for the team who raises the most money!

Come out to your complex kitchen and learn the basics of cooking a good meal before you head out for a night of carnival fun!

End the day with a carnival in the Chancellors House parking lot. Enjoy inflatable games, sports, competitions, and snacks with your fellow Residence and Frosh friends.

Join Frosh Leaders on campus for a great opportunity to learn where everything is.  You will be guided around the school to your classes and other important areas to make sure that you are ready for the first day of university.

Teams will be presenting their final lip sync’s at closing ceremonies. This is the time that teams can use to practice their songs.

Closing Ceremonies wraps up Frosh Week in a fun and exciting way. Be sure to come out to support your team one last time! After the lip-sync battles, the winning Frosh team will be announced, along with Froshie of the Year and a group photo will be taken.
