Dr. James S. Jamieson Award in Music
Established to honour the life of Dr. James S. Jamieson in recognition of his dedication to encouraging teachers to inspire young students with their love of music. Dr. James S. Jamieson was an active member of the North Bay community, serving on the Board of Governors of Nipissing University and as the first president of the Nipissing University Alumni Association. He was also a member of the North Bay Symphony Orchestra, playing the violin for 20 years. The award is presented to a Bachelor of Education student enrolled in an elective music course(s) who expresses a strong and sincere desire to teach music. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP. Complete a Awards Month application, available on Web Advisor beginning October 1. Deadline: 4:00 pm November 1.

Dr. Manfred Hanke Memorial Award
Presented to a full-time Nipissing student graduating from the Intermediate/Senior Division of the Bachelor of Education program. Qualified candidates must have successfully taken the Technology Enriched Teaching and Learning Course (EDUC 4766) The selected recipient is deemed most deserving by the Intermediate/Senior Division faculty and must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP. The Instructor selects this recipient.

Cynthia Johnston Memorial Award
Presented annually, in memory of Cynthia Johnston (B.Ed. 07), to a graduating student of the Bachelor of Education program who has displayed a positive attitude and a strong work ethic throughout the program. Preference is given to someone who expresses a sincere desire to teach music. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and must be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP. Students are nominated by the Faculty.

Stacey Koebel Memorial Award
Presented annually, in memory of Stacey Koebel (B.Ed. '00), to a graduating of the Schulich School of Education who expresses a desire to teach in Canada's far north (Northwest Territories, Yukon, Nunavut). First choice in selection will be given to a student in the Primary/Junior division. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP. Students are nominated by the Faculty.

Elementary Teacher's Federation of Ontario - Near North Local Award
Presented to a graduating full-time student from the Schulich School of Education Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate Division who was highly successful in all practice teaching placements. This award is intended to be presented to a student who will pursue a career in teaching and ideally register as a member of the Elementary Teacher’s Federation. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP. Students are nominated by the Faculty. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

Dino and Jean Dottori Math and Science Award
Presented to the student with the highest admittance average who was a graduate of Nipissing University and who is enrolled in the Junior/Intermediate or Intermediate/Senior Division of the full-time Bachelor of Education program with Math or Science as a teachable. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.

Abby DeBruyn Memorial Award
Established to honour the life of Nipissing University alumna, Abby DeBruyn, in recognition of her dedication and passion for education. The award is presented to a graduating Bachelor of Education student in the intermediate/senior division. The recipient demonstrates leadership qualities and an enthusiasm for the program, both inside and outside the classroom. The recipient must also demonstrate financial need and must be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.

Ahti Jones Memorial Award
Established to honour the life of educator, Ahti Jones. This award is presented to a graduating Bachelor of Education student (concurrent or consecutive) who has a strong academic record. The recipient must have their teaching qualification in French as a Second Language and plan to pursue a career teaching French. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario.

Governor General's Academic Gold Medal
Awarded for academic excellence to the student graduating from the Schulich School of Education with a Masters of Education Degree with the highest academic standing.

J.W. Trusler Proficiency Awards in Education
Presented to six graduating students as selected by the faculty of each division, based primarily on academic achievement and for excellence in practice teaching. The number of awards for the Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate, and Intermediate/Senior Divisions is proportionate to the number of sections in each division.
