  • Sudbury Teachers' Lions Club Award in Memory of Professor Susan Stuart

    Established by a group of retired educators in Sudbury and surrounding area in memory of Susan Stuart, a professor at Nipissing University who passed away in January, 2019. As a professor of mathematics in the Schulich School of Education, Susan's talents extended far beyond the classroom. She developed and authored many teacher resources and she worked with Nipissing to provide training for educators in other countries. She was very passionate about giving back and her volunteerism speaks volumes. OAME, Sudbury Teachers' Lions and CFUW Sudbury benefited greatly from her hours of work to benefit others. The award is presented to a student enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program who has displayed a positive attitude to teaching; a willingness to assist fellow classmates; and exemplary volunteer, leadership and citizenship qualities. The recipient is nominated by the Schulich School of Education and must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.

  • Allan and Lois Schmidt Award

    Awarded to a graduate of the Bachelor of Education program at the Junior/Intermediate level of the Schulich School of Education who was a former graduate of Nipissing University with at least a second class standing. The recipient should have demonstrated enthusiasm and passion for teaching children and excellence in practice teaching. The recipient must also demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.

  • Dr. Robert Richardson Award

    Presented to a full-time Nipissing University student enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program who has an undergraduate degree in science, mathematics or engineering. Preference is given to students from northern Ontario and to students who were and continue to be involved in university athletics. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP. Complete a Awards Month application, available on Web Advisor beginning October 1.   • Stan Pasko Mathematics Award

    Presented to a graduating student in the Primary/Junior Division of the Schulich School of Education who excelled in the Mathematics Education course and who was graded highly successful in his/her practice teaching placements. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP. Students are nominated by the Faculty.

  • NUSU Bachelor of Education Award

    Presented to an incoming B.Ed student who has demonstrated a commitment to the Nipissing University community during his/her undergraduate studies. The student selected will have displayed leadership in student government and student affairs and made a personal contribution to the life of the University. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP. Complete a Awards Month application, available on Web Advisor beginning October 1.   • Norm Mauro Memorial Award

    Established in memory of a prominent vocalist and band leader who spent 35 years delighting audiences with the big band sounds of his nine piece orchestra. This award is intended to encourage a teacher to inspire others with his love of music and is presented annually to a Bachelor of Education student enrolled in an elective music course(s) who expresses a strong and sincere desire to teach music. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.

  • Dr. John Long Memorial Bursary

    Presented to a student in the summer session of the first year of one of the three Nipissing University Summer Indigenous Programs: Teacher of Anishnaabemwin as a Second Language program, the Native Classroom Assistant Development Program, or the Indigenous Teacher Certification Program. The recipient must be a resident of Ontario and demonstrate financial need. Complete the application posted in the "Forms and Applications" section of the Student Financial Services Website.   • John R. McCarthy Scholarship

    Established in 1994 by John R. McCarthy, former Deputy Minister of University Affairs and Deputy Minister of Education for the Province of Ontario. The scholarship is awarded to a student who graduated with at least second-class standing from either a three-year or four-year undergraduate program at Nipissing University in the preceding academic year, and who is currently enrolled in the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing in the Fall Session immediately following graduation. Preference is given to a student who has displayed leadership in student government and student affairs, made a personal contribution to the life of the University, shown a fondness and aptitude for sports, and displayed leadership and a sense of fair play in athletic endeavours. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP. Complete a Awards Month application, available on Web Advisor beginning October 1.   • Sondra Nesterenko Memorial Award

    Presented annually to a full-time student graduating from the Junior/Intermediate division of the Schulich School of Education. The recipient must possess superior leadership skills and talents within an educational setting. Students are nominated by the Schulich School of Education. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.

  • Greg Kotsilidis Memorial Award

    Presented to a deserving graduating full-time Bachelor of Education student who achieved a high average in the visual arts course (Intermediate or Senior) and who demonstrated a commitment to encouraging the value of art in education. Students are nominated by the Faculty. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.
