Nearly Naked at Homecoming
This year during Homecoming Weekend, October 25-27, you’ll have the chance to get nearly naked for a great cause with the Nearly Naked Mile, hosted by the Nipissing University Student Ambassadors (NUSA).
Here's how it works: The run takes place on October 26. Nearly Naked Mile participants can register at 1 p.m. between the Surtees Centre and Harris Learning Library. All participants will need to fill out and submit a registration form prior to the run, registration forms can be submitted between 1 p.m. and 1:50 p.m. on October 26, 2013. Participants arrive at the starting line wearing as much as they can. Then they remove and donate their additional clothing before running (or walking) a mile in appropriate undergarments (or in regular clothing). The run/walk starts at 2 p.m.
The purpose is twofold: to provide empathy for what it is like to be outside with minimal clothing: something that hundreds of people across Ontario experience every day; and to collect clothing for Amelia Rising Sexual Assault Centre.
The Nearly Naked Mile will also include a DJ, activities, prizes and plenty of Nipissing and North Bay pride.
Participation is open to all Homecoming attendees. The suggested donation to participate is $5 at the event, which also gets you an awesome t-shirt!
Homecoming Weekend is all about celebrating Nipissing University and its collective achievements with the people who make it such an exceptional place. As well as the Nearly Naked Mile, this year’s events include: The Alumni Awards Reception, the massively popular Tailgate Party and fast and exciting Lakers Hockey!
