Plant Signal Transduction
Dr. Cholewa studies plant structure and function. Her research interests are reflected in numerous collaborative publications, from vein arrangement and water transport in plants from Costa Rica’s rain forest to the ion and photoassimilate transport in arctic sedge. -
Plant Ecology Research Laboratory
The Plant Ecology Research Laboratory (PERL) is based on field and lab studies that examine the ecology and environmental physiology of plants exposed to multiple stresses (climatic, chemical, herbivory, etc). -
Genetics and Aging
Dr. Tony Parkes’ primary research interests involve the genetics and molecular biology of aging. -
Analytical and Environmental Chemistry
The main goal of the hydrometallurgical research that we are performing is to develop more environmentally friendly and economical ways of mining minerals compared to the smelting processes that have traditionally been used. -
Lab Members
Current Lab Members - Graduate and Undergraduate, Past Lab Members -
Forest Resources Laboratory
Research in the Forest Resources Laboratory (FRL) at Nipissing University focuses on aspects of biology at the community, ecosystem and landscape levels of organization. -
Central Analytical Facility
The facility allows Nipissing University researchers and students to expand the focus of their research into new areas that were previously inaccessible. -
Plant Growth Facility
The Plant Growth Facility is located on the roof of Nipissing University's H-Wing. This facility houses two Conviron PGR14 computer controlled growth chambers. -
Greenhouse Complex
The Nipissing Greenhouse Complex is a state-of-the-art greenhouse that features three large growth zones containing four moveable benches. Each zone features independent computer controlled temperature, humidity and lighting that can be custom programmed for each plant and growing condition. -
Environmental Biology and Technology
Our Environmental Biology and Technology (ENBT) program specializes in providing you with the knowledge and skills required to study Environmental Biology from many perspectives. You will receive the double-benefit of combining the academic education provided by Nipissing University with the practical and technical skills taught by our colleagues at Canadore College.
