Homecoming 2017 is here
Break out your blue and green this weekend and celebrate; Homecoming 2017 has arrived.
Running from September 29 – October 1, Homecoming is filled with fun events aimed at helping students, alumni, community, staff and faculty celebrate together and strut some school spirit.
Everyone is encouraged to wear their blue and green finery on Friday to get in the spirit of Homecoming.
For anyone registered for Homecoming, please remember to pick up your registration package at the Robert J Surtees Student Athletics Centre on Friday from noon – 8 p.m. While registering, you can enjoy some pizza and get a photo with Louie the Laker.
Registration has now closed, however, tickets for the Saturday evening hockey games are still available though the Memorial Gardens Box Office.
Events kick off on Friday registration and scenic sunset cruise to Callander Bay on the Chief Commanda II. Lakers varsity men's and women's basketball teams hit the court at the RJ Surtees Athletic Centre followed by Alumni Pub Night at The Raven & Republic in downtown North Bay.
The events turn a little more maniacal on Saturday as the Laker Maniacs will be leading the charge encouraging everyone to show their spirit for the blue and green. Saturday afternoon gets rolling with Pints N' Poutine at the Lakers Alumni Volleyball games. Be sure to register your tiny humans for Kid Zone while you enjoy the games.
From there, hop on the bus and head down to Memorial Gardens for some hockey action and the always awesome pre-game tailgate party from 4– 6:30 p.m. We’ll have everything you need: food, a beer tent and live entertainment from DJ Neon Nomad. Finish off your perfect blue and green day by cheering on the Lakers hockey teams. The women’s team takes on the Ottawa Gee Gees, while the men face off against the UofT Blues. The puck drops at 4:30 p.m. for the women and 7:30 p.m. for the men.
