NU Alumna earns Fellowship to advance patient care

Congratulations to Nipissing University alumna Caitlin Don for earning a University Health Network (UHN)Collaborative Academic Practice (CAP) Fellowship.Don is a graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Scholar Practitioner Program (SPP). She is one of 21 Fellows selected to participate in the competitive CAP Fellowship Program.
The CAP Fellowship Program is a unique opportunity for point of care health professionals to lead a practice-based quality improvement project to learn about leading change in a complex academic health organization and to advance patient care.
The program was developed based on research evidence that demonstrates the positive effect of designating time for professional development and learning regarding quality of patient care, job satisfaction, and staff retention.
The program began in 2010 as the Nurses for Tomorrow (N4T) Innovation and Research Fellowship Program, and gained national recognition in 2012 by Accreditation Canada as an Innovative Leading Practice.
The CAP Fellowship Program has expanded to include other health professions, as well as participants from other hospitals and healthcare sectors including clinical nutrition, medical imaging technology, nursing, cardiovascular technology, occupational therapy, pharmacy, radiation therapy and social work.
