There’s a new tipi on campus, a place for teaching, learning and community-gathering. On Friday, June 17, Nipissing will host a small celebration at the new tipi to mark National Aboriginal Day, including a cultural teaching shared by Cindy Hare followed by tea and bannock for everyone.

Congratulations to Brian T. Thorn, instructor in the English department, on the publication of his book, From Left to Right: Maternalism and Women's Political Activism in Postwar Canada (UBC Press).

Dr. Cindy Peltier brings a passion for community health, teaching and learning and a strong connection to Nipissing University to her new role as the university’s Chair of Indigenous Education.

Nipissing University’s Board of Governors approved the 2016-17 operating budget at their regular meeting on June 2. The university is projecting revenues of $66,567,837 and expenses of $71,279,170, resulting in a projected deficit of $4,711,333.

Nipissing University will bestow its highest distinction, an honorary degree, to three outstanding individuals, Debra Lynne Brown, Dr. Dawn Memee Lavell-Harvard and Jerome Berthelette, during convocation in Brantford and North Bay.
