The Children’s Aid Society of the district of Nipissing and Parry Sound has indicated they have several youth and families that?need your help. Unfortunately, youth often go unsponsored at Christmas and this year there are several youths in care between the ages of 16 and 21.
This Christmas you can feel good about giving back to the community by sponsoring a youth, a single parent family, or a large family.
Last year there were 89 individuals sponsored, 33 youth sponsored and 14 families. The sponsorship was made possible by several different departments and individuals within the university including Student Development, School of Business, Academic Advising Office, Criminal Justice Honour Society alpha phi sigma, Development and Alumni Relations, School of Nursing, Nipissing University Nursing Society, Canadore/Nipissing library staff, Human Resources, Technology Services, and 10 University staff members with their families.
“There are a number of great charities, but it has been my experience that the Children's Aid Society, for one reason or another, is not at the top of most people’s thoughts at Christmas time,” said Melissa Busschaert-Daigle, administrative assistant at Nipissing University. “I have three children of my own, and I can't imagine Santa not being able to visit them at Christmas time. Christmas is the one time of year that we all believe in a little magic, and this is a great opportunity to give that gift.”
