One Pledge returning to NU

Nipissing University will host a One Pledge Presentation in Dr. Manuel Litalien’s second-year Community Service Learning course, this Friday, April 10 at 11:30 a.m.Dr. Litalien has invited the organizers of the One Pledge movement to give a presentation to his class on One Pledge, the city-wide initiative to end domestic violence. One Pledge is organized by Mayor of North Bay, Al McDonald; North Bay Police Chief, Paul Cook; and Executive Director of the Nipissing Transition House, Janine Lafreniere. One Pledge is about all of North Bay supporting the idea that a violence free community is something worth pledging to achieve.  It is built upon the age-old notion that we are stronger together, that individual efforts are the driving force behind moving the goals of the many forward.
The presentation is open to all interested students and faculty. Those interested in attending should contact Dr. Litalien to ensure there is adequate seating. Refreshments will be served.
A similar presentation took place earlier in the semester in Michele Girash's marketing class.
By signing the pledge, one is joining a group of like-minded North Bay citizens who will:Create safe healthy relationships at home, at work and in the community.Treat others with dignity and respect.Teach children the value of a healthy relationship.Never condone or commit acts of domestic violence.Never blame victims of domestic violence.Report domestic violence to the police.
Everyone who signs the pledge becomes a member of an ever growing movement of citizens who have made a commitment to do what they can to end domestic violence in our community.
