NU launching campaign to end sexual violence
It is time for a #nuperspective.Nipissing University is pleased to introduce #nuperspective, a campaign to end sexual violence through education, prevention, and outreach events on campus. To introduce the campaign, Nipissing created the following video, featuring students, faculty, staff and community members, all sharing an important message about ending sexual violence.
Nipissing encourages everyone to share the video widely to help support this important message.
The university is getting right to work with providing educational opportunities relating to #nuperspective. On Friday, September 4, at 10:30 a.m., Nipissing welcomes keynote speaker, Dr. Rachel Griffin. Dr. Griffin will speak to students, staff and faculty in the Robert J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre, providing an engaging presentation focusing on the prevention of sexual violence. Actively involved in the movement against gender violence for almost a decade, Griffin’s passion for gender violence advocacy is derived from her personal experience as a survivor. She regards gender violence as tragic, unnecessary, and systemic, and holds generating social consciousness close to her heart as a personal and social responsibility.
Nipissing has also unveiled anew website for #nuperspective, offering resources for survivors, supporters, and NU community members. The website includes information on how to help support a survivor, links to NU policies and procedures, information for survivors on available NU and community resources, as well as prevention and education events on campus.
Look for many more #nuperspective events and outreach opportunities in the coming months. Join us, and live the #nuperspective.
