NU launches Two Students at a Time
Nipissing University expects significant savings in the coming years thanks to a new marketing tag line: Two Students at a Time.
The new line updates and improves the former line, One Student at a Time, which was deemed no longer feasible, and twice as costly.
Nipissing has consistently demonstrated its commitment to providing a personalized educational experience for students. That commitment remains strong, though students can expect pairings in the future.
The move to Two Students at a Time is a direct function of the university’s current budget deficit.
“We figure that Two Students at a Time should cut many of our costs in half. Students will still be getting all the same services, and they’ll be learning valuable lessons about sharing,” said Dr. Mike DeGagné, president and vice-chancellor. “There will be some growing pains, especially in terms of personal counseling and academic advising, but I’m sure we can find two students dealing with the same issues and just pair them up. It’s like a two-for-one deal.”
Effective immediately all one-on-one meetings with ?students must feature two students.
“We did consider a few other options. There was a movement to go to one-and-a-half Students at a Time, but that was deemed impractical,” said DeGagné. “Some of the more fiscally conservative members of the university wanted to go to 10 Students at a Time, but that’s ridiculous.”
