Novelist Abdou on campus Thursday
Nipissing University welcomes renowned Canadian novelist, Angie Abdou, to campus for a special reading and some conversation about writing and the world of elite sports, this Thursday, January 15, at 7 p.m. in Room A122.
Abdou will read from her 2007 novel The Bone Cage, which depicts the challenging lives of young Olympic hopefuls. Taught in many Sports and Literature courses, The Bone Cage has become a favourite read of many athletes, sports and Canadian literature fans alike. It was a finalist on CBC's 2011 Canada Reads, championed by former NHL tough guy Georges Laroque. It was also selected as The MacEwan Book of the Year for the 2011–2012 academic year.
This event is free of charge and everyone is welcome.
The reading and discussion are sponsored by the Department of English Studies, with the support of Health and Physical Education and the Dean of Arts and Science.
