Nipissing beats all other universities
…in hockey tournament.
A dedicated and determined team of athletes recently represented Nipissing University in the hotly contested Faculty-Staff Hockey Tournament in Guelph. The heroes from Nipissing returned home victorious!
The team skated to a 4-1 record, and a three-way tie at the top with Guelph and Laurier who earned similar records. Nipissing took home the hardware, however, thanks to the tie-breaking formula devised by the tournament organizers: lowest penalty minutes wins. By playing like gentleman scholars (or being really sneaky, or perhaps paying off referees) the team was slapped with a mere six minutes in penalties.
Even more impressively, these uber-athletes did it with a very short bench.
Suiting up for the Lakers:
Verdon “Flying V” Vaillancourt
Mike “McRinger” McParland
Greg “Big Wood” Rickwood
Ryan “Cool Lab” Graham
Steve “A-Train” Arnocky
Steve “Mmmbop” Hansen
Justin “Testosterone” Carre
Jim “Holy Man” McAuliffe
Glen “Dr. Hook” Brophey
Richard “Ringer” Rochefort
Make sure to wish them congratulations if you see them on campus, but make sure your pat on the back isn’t too hard, as they are all still a little ginger from playing all that hockey!
