MES/MESC grad student recognized for leadership

Congratulations to Paige Restoule, Masters of Environmental Studies graduate student, on earning a Joseph Morrison Legacy Fund student bursary, a national award that recognizes leadership and academic success for Aboriginal students.Restoule is working on a thesis focusing on the importance of medicinal plants and land-based activities for Aboriginal youth. She is the lead community-based researched for the working to Protect Our Water project in Dokis First Nation and chair of her community’s Cultural Committee.
The Joseph Morrison Legacy Fund was established in 2012 by non-profit organization,Good Life for Young Peoples> in honour of the late Justice and Elder Joseph Donald Morrison. The fund awards two $1,500 bursaries annually to a male and female Aboriginal youth pursuing their dreams of post-secondary education. The bursary is made possible by a generous donation from the Ontario Federation of Indian Friendship Centres. This year over 50 bursary applications were considered.?
