Lakers Hockey Military Appreciation Night
Nipissing Lakers Men’s Hockey is teaming up with the North Bay’s armed forces for the 7th Annual Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, October 3, at 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.
The Lakers will take on the RMC Paladins as a part of the university’sHomecoming weekend. This exciting event will cap off a great Saturday of Lakers Athletics action.
“This is a terrific opportunity for everyone to get a look at what our team looks like this year and I know all the guys will enjoy playing in front of a packed arena,” said Mike McParland, Lakers men’s hockey team head coach. “We have high expectations for our program and we want to get off to a great start.”
At the game players will don camouflage uniforms that will later be auctioned off through a silent auction to raise money for the Military Family Resource Centre. The uniform will be presented to the winning bid post-game.
“We have a great relationship with the 22 Wing North Bay Base here in North Bay and this is our way of showing our gratitude to them and to all the men and women of the armed forces,” said Vito Castiglione, Lakers Athletic Director. “This game has always attracted a large crowd and now with it being part of Homecoming, we’re looking forward to a great atmosphere.”
This game will be part of the first of eight double-headers the Lakers Hockey programs have, as the women kick things off at 4 p.m., with the men to follow at 7 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Memorial Gardens offices, located on the second floor of the arena, or at the box office in the main lobby on game days.
