History Graduate Research Conference TODAY

?Nipissing University is pleased to present the eighth annual History Graduate Research Conference, Wednesday, May 6, from 9:15 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Monastery.Presented by School of Graduate Studies, the Office of the Associate Vice-President Academic and Research, and the Department of History, the conference features four presentations by students, lasting roughly 45 minutes each.
Presentations include:Lacy Bateman: Stories of Violence against Indigenous Women in Canada: Understanding Helen Betty OsborneSam Henderson: Many of them...thought they would survive, but they knew too much: Memories of Jewish Ghetto PoliceMichael McTavish: Building a Warrior: British Iron Shipbuilding to 1860Katherine Little: Ordinary Citizen or War Criminal? A Case Study of Imre Finta and War Criminals in Canada
Dr. Jennifer Evans, a graduate of Nipissing’s Master of History program who has completed her doctoral degree at the University of Toronto, will provide the keynote address, Designing Women: The Planning of Home and Kitchen Spaces in Post-1945 Northeastern Ontario.
Dr. Nathan Kozuskanich, associate professor of History, will serve as the facilitator and commentator for the presentations.
Dr. Hilary Earl, associate professor of History and master of History graduate advisor will provide opening remarks with Dr. Sharon Rich, associate vice-president, Academic, Dr. Elizabeth Thorn Chair in Literacy and Language Arts.
Closing remarks come from Dr. Stephen Connor, assistant professor of History and graduate council member, and Dr. Mike DeGagné, president and vice-chancellor of Nipissing University.
