CICAS bridges the gap between digital and ancient worlds
Nipissing’s Centre for Interdisciplinary Collaborations in the Arts and Sciences (CICAS, pronounced: kickass!), presentsDigital Approaches to the Ancient World, a panel discussion on January 29 from noon – 2 p.m. in room R307.
The discussion will be led by Dr. Richard Wenghofer, Classical Studies at Nipissing University; Dr. Mark Wachowiak, Computer Science at Nipissing University), Dr. Alex McAuley, Classical Studies at McGill University; and Dr. Steve Mason, History at the University of Aberdeen.
Short description:
When people think of interdisciplinary approaches to academic research, few would imagine collaboration between computer science and the study of ancient history. Yet digital technologies have increasingly occupied a central position in the study of the ancient world. The panelists will demonstrate how some of these technologies are used both as pedagogical tools and as an invaluable way of creating new knowledge of the ancient world.
A live stream of the discussion is available, here.
This discussion is free of charge and all are welcome. ??
