Each year, the department puts out a call for any student enrolled in a FAVA course to submit up to three pieces of original art. Students are encouraged to submit work that reflects independent ideas and self-direction.
Of the 44 artworks submitted, 21 pieces by 16 artists were accepted. The process of submitting to a juried exhibition is excellent learning experience for FAVA students. As they progress through the program, students become aware of the variables affecting their acceptance into exhibitions, including the caliber of submissions, the tastes of the jurors, and the way their work might fit into a cohesive exhibition.
This year, FAVA welcomed Tanya Lukin-Linklater and Katie Bevan as the external jurors of the exhibition.
