Schulich School of Education goes pro this week
This week marks Professional Week in Nipissing University’s Schulich School of Education. Running from September 29 - October 3, and titled Stand Up, Stand Out, the week provides an opportunity for students to learn about and meet with various service organizations and federations that exist for teachers in Ontario.
Students in the Schulich School of Education will also take part in workshops and other education sessions led by Nipissing faculty.
This year, the university has scheduled a professionalism session on Friday morning with an expert panel comprised of Supervisory Officers, Principals, and classroom teachers from both the Near North District School Board as well as the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board. The discussion is expected to range from cell phone use and online presence to contact with parents and the community, as well as anything in-between. The discussion will be followed by a Question and Answer session. These culminating sessions will enable students in the Schulich School of Education to gain a greater understanding of what it means for a teacher to "be professional".
