NU hosts Debwendizon, an Aboriginal youth education gathering
Nipissing’s Office of Aboriginal Initiatives recently hosted Debwendizon, an Aboriginal youth education gathering, which saw aboriginal students from six local high schools come to campus to learn more about the university and what sets NU apart.
A total of 33 students participated in the event from the following high schools: Widdifield, St. Joseph Scollard Hall, Chippewa, West Ferris, Northern and Nbisiing.
The students were treated to an extensive tour of the university as well as a variety of presentations and hands-on interactions with faculty and staff.
Presenters included:John Picard and Kevin Hawker from Student Recruitment Lauren Asher and her team from Residence Life Emily Couchie from the Aboriginal Advantage Program Corina Irwin from the Biology department presenting on Mammalian characteristics Hilary and Gail from the Harris Learning Library Vito Castiglione from the Robert J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre Louise Moir and Amberleigh Kelly from the Nursing Department Peter Nosko from the Biology department.

This is the time to highlight your program and facility to some fantastic high school students.
