NU going purple for World Mental Health Day
This Friday, October 10, Nipissing University will Light up Purple for Amanda Todd and World Mental Health Day, bathing the front entrance in a vibrant purple light.
The Light Up Purple movement is the work of the Amanda Todd Legacy Society and adds an Anti Bullying message to World Mental Health Day. Amanda Todd was a young woman who suffered from extreme depression and took her own life due to extreme bullying. Purple was her favorite colour. Her family launched the Light up Purple movement to help spread the discussion about mental health and wellness.
While the university is shining a purple light, there are lots of ways for everyone to get involved. Light up your home, wear something purple, make your Facebook page purple for the day, drink purple tea, or colour your hair purple. And, make sure to join the conversation on Twitter using #lightuppurple while sharing your images and messages.
