Math talks this Friday
Nipissing’s Department of Computer Science and Mathematics is pleased to announce an upcoming seminar featuring Dr. Ihor Stasyuk discussing Counting and Combinatorics, on Friday, November 28, at 1:30 – -2:30 p.m. in room A223.
Abstract: We consider combinatorial principles such as the addition rule, multiplication rule and inclusion/exclusion principle. We solve typical counting problems, discuss permutations and combinations. We look at some famous examples; in particular, properties of Pascal's triangle and Fibonacci numbers.
This will be an expository talk, aimed at a general audience, with some high school students attending.
The event is free of charge and all are welcome.
Also on November 28, the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics welcomes Dr. Tzvetalin Vassilev, associate professor for a research seminar from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Dr. Vassilev will discuss Sweepwidth of polygons in the plane. Please feel free to attend both talks.
