Hall of Fame looking more blue and green
The North Bay Sports Hall of Fame class of 2013 has a definite tint of Nipissing University’s blue and green.Congratulations to alumnus Cam Culbert, (BA’05 BEd’06) who was inducted into the Hall.Culbert, who is now an Assistant Coach for the Lakers men’s soccer team and teaches part-time in the Faculty of Arts and Science, is a former Canadian national team Ski Cross athlete who won a Europa Cup. Prior to his career in Ski Cross, he spent several seasons on Alpine Canada's national development team, garnering a second-place finish in the 2000 national championships giant slalom.
Nipissing’s 2013 National Championship winning men’s volleyball team earned the James Kelly Award for team of the year, which they co-won with the Esso Cup midget-AA national girls silver-medalist North Bay Ice Boltz hockey team.?
Darren Turcotte, head coach of the Nipissing Lakers Women’s hockey team, received the Reynolds Memorial Award for hockey. Turcotte was inducted into the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
