Food Fest a smashing success
Nipissing’s annual International Food Fest was a delicious success, raising more than $1,500 for the university’s student refugee program.
Attendees enjoyed their culinary and cultural trip around the world, with more than 40 fabulous dishes for sampling as well as music, a martial arts demonstration, and a silent auction.
Organizers exceeded their goals, selling more than 5,000 tasty food samples for the 500 people who attended, to enjoy.
“The popularity of the food fest grows every year and this was our most successful Food Fest yet,” said Jesse Fortier, Nipissing’s Education Abroad Coordinator. “Thank you to all the community members, and Nipissing students, staff and faculty who supported this great event. Their support really makes a significant difference in supporting this terrific program.”
The International Food Fest is an annual fundraising event for the WUSC Student Refugee Sponsorship Program. To date, this program has enabled three refugee students to obtain an education at Nipissing University. With the monies raised at the Food Fest, Nipissing is able to continue to provide refugee students with opportunities for post-secondary education.
