Exciting news at our Muskoka campus as students and faculty recognized for their work
Nipissing’s Muskoka campus is a-buzz as of lately, due to the recognition some of the students and faculty have been receiving.
Prof Steve Carins, Faculty in Nursing, was the Nipissing University recipient of the 2014 Award of Excellence, Innovation, and Leadership in Interprofessional Education by the Northern Interprofessional Collaborative for Health Education (NICHE), Conference Advisory
Committee, in Sudbury Ontario, October 10, 2014. The nomination was put forward by Dr. Lorraine Carter on behalf of Nipissing University.
Chair of Child and Family Studies, Dr. Anne Wagner's article "Is Anti-Oppression Teaching in Canadian Social Work Classrooms a Form of Neo-Liberalism? [vol.32(3), pp 331-348]" was selected as the Best Conceptual Article 2013-2014 by Social Work Education: the International Journal. The article will be highlighted on the Journal's webpage and she has been asked to write again for this international journal.
Four students from the Muskoka Campus have been nominated for the 2014 YWCA Muskoka Women of Distinction Awards. Laura Cameron, Avery Saunter, Jen Hoyle and Emily Montgomery were all nominated in the Young Woman of Distinction category.
Faculty and staff at the Muskoka Campus submitted the profiles of these four outstanding women because of their dedication to their academic studies and their contributions to the University, their fellow students and the greater Muskoka community.
The awards gala will take place on Wednesday November 29th at 5:30 p.m. at the Rene M. Caisse Theatre in Bracebridge.
