Celebrating students who make a difference
Nipissing University is very proud to congratulate Alexandra (Lexi) McKeon, who is NU's 2014 Student Who Makes a Difference. McKeon will be honoured at the Evening of Applause tonight, Wednesday, March 19.
The Evening of Applause is held annually to recognize students who truly make a difference in their school, community and at national or international levels as their actions align with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination observed annually on March 21. The project is organized by the four local school boards, Canadore College, Collège Boréal, Nipissing University and the North Bay & District Multicultural Centre. It begins at 6:30 p.m. at École secondaire publique Odyssée (480 Norman Street, North Bay) and features Students Who Make a Difference from all grade levels. This year Brittany Baker, Nipissing alumnae and current student in Recreation and Leisure Studies at Canadore College will be recognized. Entertainment will be provided by the West Ferris Secondary band, Algonquin dance troupe, St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears vocal ensemble and Odyssée dance troupe. In addition, Thérèse St. Jules a retired school teacher from Hearst who has lived in North Bay for the past 22 years, will be inducted in to the Nipissing District Human Rights Hall of Fame. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
