Celebrate Alice Munro
The English department at Nipissing University is hosting a celebration of Canadian author and Nobel Laureate Alice Munro on January 23 at 3 p.m. in room A224.The Munro celebration includes discussion of her works and two short presentations:Dr. Lindsey McMaster - Deep caves paved with kitchen linoleum: Alice Munro and Canadian GothicDr. Laurie Kruk - From Munro’s Lives (1971) to Shield’s ‘Scenes’ (1985): A Canadian Female Bildungsroman that fit[s] into the hollow of her hand
An internationally recognized Canadian literary icon, and master of the short story, Munro was awarded the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature and the 2009 Man Booker International Prize for her lifetime body of work. She is a three-time winner of the Governor General’s Award for fiction and a two-time winner of the Giller Prize.
