Students publishing their research
Student researchers at Nipissing University are getting a chance to feel the thrill of publication, as their work will appear in the first ever Conference Proceedings for the 2012 Undergraduate Research Conference.The publication will be launched on Thursday, February 28, at 7 p.m. in the Harris Learning Library’s Thomson Reading Room.
The digital publication includes thirty-one refereed papers on topics ranging fromThe Occupy Movement to T.S Elliot, from organizations representing sex workers to children of alcoholics. There aretwenty-eight student researchers included, each one who participated in the 2012 Undergraduate Research Conference.
“The academic quality that we’ve witnessed at the annual undergraduate research conference is exceptional,” said Dr. Laurie Kruk, who edited the conference proceedings publication with a group of faculty referees. “Publishing one’s research is vital to an academic career. We wanted to provide students with an opportunity to experience all facets of research, from the inspiration through conducting to presenting it and finally to publication.”
The launch is open to everyone.
The 2013 Undergraduate Research Conference will take place March 22 and 23 at Nipissing University.
