Students applying knowledge in Jamaica
Nipissing students are again hitting the North coast of Jamaica in February to apply the research skills and management theories they’ve learned in class to assist a small-scale eco-tourism destination. The group of 11 students and four faculty members departed for Jamaica on February 13, and will return to North Bay on February 27.
The students are working with Green Castle Estates to assist in their move to becoming eco-certified as a Jamaican Eco Destination.
The students are also consulting on methods that Green Castle Estates can become more self-sufficient and sustainable in food production. The students will also be joined by faculty members: Prof. Linda Piper, Dr. Natalya Brown, Dr. John Knox and Dr. Anahit Armenakyan. You can follow along in the group’s activities through their blog, theirFacebook page, and through Twitter: @iLEADJamaica.
