NUSA Executive Director wins prestigious award
Nipissing congratulates fourth-year Criminal Justice studentAlicia Mossington, who recently earned an Outstanding Student Leader Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education Affiliated Student Awards Program (CASE ASAP).Mossington is the executive director of the Nipissing University Student Ambassadors (NUSA). The award was announced at the CASE ASAP District II conference at Rensselaer Polytechnic, in Troy, New York.
“Nipissing is very proud of Alicia, and of all of our NUSA students who represent the university so well through their volunteer efforts,” said Michelle Courville, Alumni Relations officer at Nipissing and staff advisor to NUSA. “Alicia’s leadership has been on display for many years as a tireless volunteer since before she came to Nipissing, through her work with NUSA, her dedication to Nipissing and her wonderful school spirit. This is a prestigious award for Nipissing and for Alicia.”
CASE ASAP National Awards at the Network Convention this summer in New Orleans.
A team of eight NUSA students and two staff advisors attended the conference, March 2 and 3. The student team was comprised of Shannen Larocque, Erin MeMesurier, Makinna McCormick, Kerri Sawyer, Brittany Fisher, Erin Clark, Hilary Schick and Rebecca Hazlewood with staff advisor, Lisa Shea, from the North Bay campus. Nipissing’s Bracebridge campus was represented by students Melissa Campbell and Martha Wood with staff advisor, Jan Lucy.
The title of this year's conference was "reinvent.edU" and included sessions which were about fresh perspective. The conference challenged the students to look at their current programs and initiatives and think about how they can do them better.
