Renowned Elmer Iseler singers to perform in North Bay
Near North Voices Choir begins its first-ever concert series on Sunday October 30 at 7:30pm. "Sharing Our Choral Art" features the internationally-famous Elmer Iseler Singers of Toronto performing at St. Andrews United Church in North Bay.
"North Bay has not traditionally been a tour stop for touring choirs - southern Ontario has gotten most of the attention", said Dr. Adam Adler, artistic director of Near North Voices, and Schulich School of Education professor. "The goal of this concert series is to actively invite and host a variety of choral groups in North Bay."
The concert series will bring a wide range of internationally-known choirs to our area, including the Czech Boys Choir in November, the Ottawa Celtic Choir with Near North Voices Chamber Choir in February, the Chamber Choir of St. Mary's University, Minnesota with the Chamber Choir in March, and concludes with a Near North Voices/Chamber Choir concert in late March.
While in North Bay, the Elmer Iseler Singers will also conduct a schools concert to help revitalize choral singing in our schools, to introduce children to good choral singing, to get them interested in joining extra-curricular groups in their elementary schools, and in taking vocal music as a course in high school. The Schools Concert will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011, 10:30 a.m., at West Ferris Secondary School Theatre.
St. Andrew’s United Church is located at 399 Cassells St. in North Bay.
Tickets for Sharing our Choral Art cost $20 for adults and $10 for students with valid student I.D. They are available at the door and at Gulliver’s Quality Books and Toys on Main St. in North Bay.
