Enrolment Increase at Nipissing

Nipissing University is very pleased to report that total student enrolment is up with 5,679 part-time and full-time students set to start the fall 2011-12 semester next week. While there has been little change in first-year full-time enrolment, overall enrolment has grown due to a 26% increase in enrolment for part-time studies and new programming in the fields of science, mathematics, technology and commerce.

"Developing our programs in the sciences and technology has been a strategic priority for Nipissing and we're pleased to see the increases in this area," says Sharon Rich, vice-president academic and research interim. "We expected to see the rise in enrolment for part-time studies due to our focus on providing a flexible learning environment for students and this is clearly what some learners are looking for," says Rich.  “Students benefit from the flexibility that the university provides and this becomes even more important for students that are juggling their studies with work and home responsibilities,” says Lorraine Carter, Director of the Centre for Flexible Teaching and Learning Innovation.

“With our Centre for Flexible Teaching and Learning Innovation and the addition of new facilities on all our campuses — North Bay, Muskoka and Brantford — we encourage anyone who is still thinking of joining us this fall to apply," states Rich, “It’s not too late!”.
