Candlelight vigil commemorates Montreal Massacre victims
Nipissing University’s Women’s Centre is holding a candlelight vigil and rose ceremony on Tuesday, December 6, to commemorate the victims of the Montreal Massacre.
The vigil takes place in the front entrance of Nipissing at 5:30 p.m. From there, the memorial will move to the pond.
On December 6, 1989, 14 women were killed by a gunman at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal, who stated his hatred of feminists as his motive. This event has come to be known as the Montreal Massacre.
The vigil and ceremony are open to everyone.
