Abolition for All: IWW Keynote and Discussion
It’s International Women’s Week at Nipissing University! Please join us on-line for the Annual Gender Equality and Social Justice IWW Keynote and discussion Tuesday March 5 at 7 – 8:30 pm.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. El Jones – Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics, Economics, and Canadian Studies at Mount Saint Vincent University; and, Visiting Researcher, Cambridge Centre for Animal Rights Law. Her talk “Abolition for All” draws from Black feminist politics of abolition to argue that we must include non-human animals in our freedom movements. Looking at the non-consensual use of animals in state violence, Dr. Jones examines the relationship between settler colonialism, race, and anti-animalism and explores visions of freedom that also include our solidarities with non-human beings.
