Established to honour Alan (1925-1994), the first Dean of the Faculty of Education, and his wife Joyce (1925-2009), an ardent supporter of the local arts community. Two scholarships are presented to Indigenous students graduating from either the Bachelor of Education program, the Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP), the Indigenous Classroom Assistant Diploma Program (ICADP), or the Teacher of Indigenous Language as a Second Language (TILSL). Recipients must intend to go on to teach in an Indigenous community, be in strong academic standing, and demonstrate financial need. The recipient must intend on pursuing a post-graduate degree, including graduate studies programs at the Masters level, in the area of education, law, medicine or social work. In the event there are not enough applicants from Nipissing First Nation, the funding will be open to all Indigenous Students. Funding can be used to support an Elder honourarium, travel costs, supplies, food, or other expenses, as defined by the students. Students may not simultaneously hold any of the following: Chancellor's Award, NU Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship, NU First Robotics Scholarship, President's Scholarship, Upper Year Carl Sanders Award or Schulich Scholarship. Students may only hold one Schulich Scholarship during their studies at Nipissing University.Recipients must have a minimum 80% average and at least one of the following: demonstrated financial need or demonstrated contributions to community.

Awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student who is pursuing research in partnership with an Indigenous community located within the Treaty No. 9 region. Recipients must demonstrate financial need. The final decision is made by the Undergraduate Services and Awards Committee.
