Microsoft 365 is a suite of cloud-based tools available to Nipissing University students, faculty, and staff. It includes university email, productivity applications, file storage, and collaboration tools that support teaching, learning, communication, and daily university operations.

Microsoft 365 can be accessed online from a web browser or through installed desktop and mobile applications, depending on your university account and license.;

Accessing Microsoft 365

How do I access Microsoft 365?

You can access Microsoft 365 online at:

https://office.com

Sign in using your Nipissing University email address and password.

Your Microsoft 365 account gives you access to university email and available Microsoft applications connected to your Nipissing account.

Email

How do I access my university email?

University email is available through Microsoft Outlook.

You can access Outlook:

  • Online through Microsoft 365

  • Through the Outlook desktop application, if installed

  • Through the Outlook mobile app

Sign in using your Nipissing University email address and password

Students, faculty, and staff should use their Nipissing email account for university-related communication.

What can I use Microsoft 365 for?

Microsoft 365 can help you:

  • Collaborate with classmates or colleagues in real time

  • Store and access files using OneDrive

  • Attend or host online meetings using Microsoft Teams

  • Organize notes, tasks, and projects

  • Access files and applications from different devices

OneDrive

What is OneDrive?

OneDrive is Microsoft’s cloud-based file storage service. It allows you to save files online and access them from different devices using your Nipissing University account.

Using OneDrive helps ensure your files are available when you need them and reduces the risk of losing work saved only to one device.

Microsoft Teams

What is Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams is a collaboration tool used for chat, meetings, file sharing, and teamwork.

Students may use Teams for group work or university communication. Faculty and staff may use Teams for meetings, department collaboration, committees, and shared workspaces.

Installing Microsoft 365

How do I install Microsoft 365 on my device?

After logging into https://office.com:

  • Select Install in the top right corner

  • Follow the prompts to install applications on your device

For mobile devices:

  • Download apps from the App Store or Google Play

  • Sign in using your Nipissing credentials

How many devices can I install Microsoft 365 on?

Students can install Microsoft 365 on:

  • Up to 5 desktop or laptop devices including mobile devices.

System Requirements

What are the system requirements?

Microsoft 365 works best with current versions of Windows and macOS.

  • Older versions of Office (e.g., Office 2010, 2013) are not supported

  • Keep your web browser up to date for best performance

What accessibility features are available?

Microsoft 365 includes accessibility tools that support a wide range of users. These may include features such as dictation, captions, immersive reader, accessibility checker, and other built-in tools.
