Nominations open for 2023 Alumni Awards

The Nipissing University Alumni Advisory Board is seeking nominations for the 2023 Alumni Awards to recognize individuals whose exemplary accomplishments, service, and commitment have brought credit to the university, their communities, and their professions.

Nominations will be accepted for the Dr. James Jamieson Influential Alumni Award, the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award, the Rising Star Alumni Award, the Honorary Alumni Award, and the Philanthropy Award until April 19, 2023.

The James Jamieson Influential Alumni Award was introduced in 2011 and is presented to a graduate whose dedication and leadership has influenced significant change and prosperity within their community.

This award is named after Dr. James Jamieson, who was made honorary member of the Nipissing University Alumni Associations in the early 1980s. Dr. Jamieson was one of the founding members of the Alumni Association and served as its first President and served as a member of the Board of Governors and as instrumental in the establishment of the Office of Alumni Affairs.

Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award, established in 1999 and previously known as the Distinguished Alumni Award, is presented to an alumnus whose achievement and excellence in their endeavours have distinguished themselves as a valued leader.

Rising Star Alumni Award, established in 2002, and previously known as the Alumni Achievement Award, is presented to a recent graduate of Nipissing University who has demonstrated significant achievement son a professional, community and/or volunteer basis or has displayed promise of significant future accomplishments.

Honorary Alumni Award, established in 2006, is presented to an individual who is not a graduate of the University, but whose actions and dedication have had a positive impact on the Nipissing University experience.

Philanthropy Award, established in 2020, is presented to an alumnus or champion of Nipissing University who is making significant contributions to improve their community through their generosity, dedication, commitment, and service.
