Forest of Reading at NU
Nipissing University welcomed about 1,500 area school children on Tuesday for the Forest of Reading, the largest children’s reading program in Canada.
Near North District School Board students from grades three to eight visited the university to interact with authors, experience engaging workshops put on by the authors themselves, and visit information tables attended by guests from community services.
The Board has partnered with Nipissing’s Schulich School of Education, the Ontario Library Association (OLA), and Whitehots to bring 10 contemporary Canadian authors to the event.
“The Schulich School of Education is proud to be a leader in literacy and language research, education, and practice with school and community partners,” said Dr. Carole Richardson, Dean of the Schulich School of Education. “We are thrilled to be a host and partner for the Forest of Reading.”
