Nipissing celebrates International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
March 21, marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD). IDERD was established by the United Nations in 1966 to commemorate the Sharpeville Massacre of 1960. It is observed every March 21 to bring the world community together to increase its efforts in the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination and racism (United Nations, Resolution 2142, XX1). -
$8.4 Million for Post-Secondary Institutions
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced a combined investment of $8.4 million to help Canadore College and Nipissing University address the financial impacts of COVID-19. Dr. Schinkel-Ivy talks movement and healthy aging
ResearchDr. Alison Schinkel-Ivy, Associate Professor, Physical and Health Education, received an NSERC Discovery Grant in the amount of $120,000 over five years for her research titled Towards an improved understanding of aging: Quantifying changes in movement during healthy aging using integrated biomechanical approach. Dr. Schinkel-Ivy will receive an additional one-year $12,500 supplement as part of the Discovery Launch Supplement program aimed at supporting early career researchers who are establishing their research program.
