New student space open at NU
The Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) unveiled their new student lounge this week with an informal open house. Students now have a place to relax between classes, study, and hang out with friends.
“We approached the university to see if we could have a space on campus for students to just relax and take a break between classes. The facilities department has been amazing in helping us make this happen for our students,” said J’aime Brunet, NUSU vice-president, services.
Located in Room A131, students will be able to use this space anytime the university is open. Renovating three existing office spaces created the physical space for the lounge. It includes a pool table, television, comfortable seating and a chalkboard wall for students to write messages on.
Attendees were treated to cupcakes provided by SugarDaddy Cupcakes and Catering, as well as cookies and pizza.
“This lounge will allow students to focus on their mental wellness, and will be a significant asset to student life at Nipissing,” said Sydney Lamorea, NUSU president.
