Discover the value of international education

Nipissing University is pleased to welcome Karen McBride, president and CEO of the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), for a special lecture titled, The Value of International Education from Today to Tomorrow and Beyond, on Tuesday, November 25, 7 – 9 p.m. in room H105.
The lecture is hosted by the Nipissing Branch of the Canadian International Council (CIC), and the Office of International Initiatives.

McBride will examine some of the issues of international education both in Canada and abroad.

This event is free and open to the public. 

Prior to joining CBIE as its president in August 2009, McBride served in key roles at the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, most recently as vice-president, International Affairs.  She received her MA in International Affairs from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University and her Honours BA in History and French from the University of Western Ontario.  In recognition of her dedication to international education in Canada, in June 2012 His Excellency the Governor General presented McBride with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, which is awarded “to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.”  In December 2012, McBride received the prestigious 2012 Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award from the Women’s Executive Network, which is presented to the highest achieving female leaders in Canada’s private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

The Canadian International Council is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the engagement of Canadians in Canadian foreign policy and in international issues generally.
