Get Your POOK On!
Nipissing’s newest club, SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) is encouraging you to “get your POOK on” to warm the hearts, heads and hands of those in need this winter.
SIFE is an international non-profit organization that brings together a diverse network of university students, academic professionals and industry leaders around the shared mission of creating a better, more sustainable world through the positive power of business. Nipissing recently formed its own SIFE team under the leadership of professor, Dianne Davis, and it is already making a difference in the community through its first fundraising initiative – POOK sales!
Featured on Dragon’s Den, POOK toques, loops (scarves) and dukes (mittens) are made from traditional work socks and make great presents for friends and family.
Throughout the month of November, Nipissing’s SIFE members (with the helping hands of Mylae Costello and Meghan Venasse from Applied and Professional Studies) will be selling POOK products for $20 each. All goods will be received by the first week of December.
Half of the proceeds will be used to purchase mittens and hats for community members in need, while the other half will be retained by SIFE to cover their transportation, accommodation and start up costs. To place an order, contact Mylae at mylaec@nipissingu.ca or ext. 4592, or Meghan at meghanv@nipissingu.ca or ext. 4329.
By contributing their talents to projects that improve the lives of people worldwide, SIFE participants are demonstrating that individuals with a knowledge and passion for business can be a powerful force for change.
