The Teaching Hub is an emerging centre for teaching and learning committed to excellence, leadership, and innovation in teaching and learning practice and scholarship. Working in partnership with faculty, staff, and students, the Teaching Hub cultivates a culture of effective teaching at Nipissing University grounded in principles of collaboration, reflective practice, and pedagogy that strives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, through anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and decolonial frameworks.
Whether you are a tenured faculty member or a contract lecturer, a teaching assistant or a graduate assistant, a staff member or an administrator, we are here to help! We offer a wide range of support and services to foster pedagogical growth and teaching excellence including:
- One-on-one consultations with individual instructors or teaching teams
- Topics may include course design and delivery; teaching practices and strategies; Blackboard Learn; curriculum development and review; pedagogical observations.
- Training and workshops
- Special events and guest lectures

The Teaching Hub supports Teaching and Learning through four main focus areas:
Relationships
The Teaching Hub facilitates connections between internal, external and international experts in the fields of teaching and learning in higher education.
Research
The Teaching Hub supports the development and sharing of the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) by creating publishing and presentation opportunities and linking Nipissing University scholars with related associations and groups.
Resources
The Teaching Hub provides faculty and staff with access to resources and professional development opportunities including workshops, guest speakers and technology-enabled learning.
Recognition
The Teaching Hub offers support for the celebration of teaching excellence and educational leadership in the form of awards, teaching chairs and fellowships.
