POSITION TITLE: Summer NUScience Explorations Camp Facilitator

HOURS OF WORK: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm; 10:30 am – 6:00 pm Monday to Friday
RATE OF PAY: $16.55 /hour + Vacation as determined by HR policy
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Summer NUScience Explorations Camp Leader will concentrate on providing experiential learning experiences that endeavour to provide activities for Indigenous youth in areas of the STEM, coding and robotics, environmental studies, communications technology, and the Arts. As a Summer Camp Leader, you and other team members will be responsible for developing, preparing, organizing and facilitating activities and programs for Indigenous youth aged 3 to 10 years old.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Some responsibilities of this position include assisting with:
- Creation of a positive learning environment for Indigenous youth
- Support and guidance of youth in attendance at the summer Camp
- Organisation, planning, and implementation of the summer Camp
- Effective problem solving and decision making with regard to the summer Camp
- On-site liaison with parents of the youth
- Set-up and take-down of the summer camp on a daily basis
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience working with children
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good organizational skills
- Good communication skills
- Previous experience working with Indigenous students or communities preferred
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred
- Negative criminal record check
- Preference will be given to candidates of Indigenous heritage
