HOURS OF WORK: 10-35 hours per week
RATE OF PAY: $16.55/hour plus Vacation Pay as determined by HR Policy
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Student Accessibility Services Assistant assists the department’s various programs, initiatives, and services aimed at providing students with an accessible and barrier free learning environment. The Student Accessibility Services Assistant also assists the department in planning, implementing, and assessing outreach initiatives and workshops that are designed to support students with disabilities transitioning to Nipissing University.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
This position will assist with the following duties:
The Student Accessibility Services (SAS) Assistant will support the SAS team by assisting with:
- Developing, implementing, and assessing SAS’s outreach initiatives and workshops that are designed to support students with various disabilities;
- Promoting campus awareness of support services available for students with disabilities while also aiming to reduce stigma, educate campus community and promote diversity;
- Collaborating with various departments throughout the institution to facilitate new student programming incorporating multiple perspectives (including Residence Life, Office of Indigenous Initiatives, Student Counselling Services, and Student Learning and Transitions);
- Researching and data gathering relating to best practices within Student Accessibility Services;
- Assisting with the collection and analysis of data used to evaluate services and supports delivered by Student Accessibility Services;
- Preparing content for multiple audiences across different formats (online, print, etc.) as required and alternate formatted materials for students using assistive technology;
- Maintaining SAS’s Transition social media accounts in compliance with our department’s Social Media Strategy
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
