The School of Social Work at Nipissing University invites applications for one tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2020, subject to final budgetary approval.
The new Bachelor of Social Work Program at Nipissing University is designed in accordance with the Canadian Association of Social Work Education (CASWE-ACFTS) standards of practice and received pre-accreditation status in June 2018. We are seeking individuals with vision and academic ambition to contribute to firmly establishing a national and international centre of social work excellence. Within a highly collegial environment Nipissing University is committed to innovative social work in northern, rural and remote contexts with an emphasis on Indigenous peoples in Canada. Candidates will demonstrate outstanding promise for excellence in undergraduate teaching and research. This will include a demonstrated understanding of contemporary and future trends in social work education and research.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in social work or related discipline. Candidates who are in the concluding stages of PhD completion are also welcome. We would particularly like to invite candidates with experience in children’s mental health and child welfare with children, families and communities in northern and rural contexts. Engagement with environmental perspectives/environmental justice in social work education is also welcome. All candidates must be eligible for registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
